Odd Rogue #407 Legend – PyramidHead
i posted this deck on reddit last week. And today I went up from the top 1500 to 400. Sometimes, for a change, I played Outcast aggro DH, and Frost DK, which I transferred from Standard to Wild. Both decks are also strong but still lack the stability of Odd Rogue.
So let’s move on to the deck.
Muligan: Jolly Roger, Buccaneer, Tour Guide, Filletfighter. With a coin, you can also take Prize Plunderer, and Southsea Deckhand (depends on matchups, mainly against aggro).
Matchups:
Discardlock: In my personal games this is a good matchup as you apply so much pressure that by the time Cataclysm is cast, the warlock is low on health. On rare occasions they might have the best hand, there’s nothing to be done about it, it’s a Wild, like high roll is the norm here. (maybe soon this will change if the developers do not lie to us).
Even Shaman: One advantage over Pirate Rogue is a good matchup against Even Shaman. Your Hero Power plays a key role in the match as it helps you clear Totems.
Secret Mage: Mage must be very lucky to beat you on pace, I’m talking about those same 2 6/6 on turn 2. Other than that, it’s a favorable match. However, sometimes you can stumble upon a Water Elemental from a secret that will prevent you from consistently blocking RFG.
Pirate Rogue: You have a Jolly Roger and the ability to destroy a Cannon or a 2/2 Pirate with your Hero Power early on. I’ve played many games against Pirate Rogue this week and haven’t played a single one on Odd Rogue. But it’s more of an experience than a 100% matchup. I think in general a match with a slight margin in favor of Odd.
Quest Mage and Pilager Rogue are obviously good matches but you know those decks and what happens when a Mage has more than 2 Ice Blocks. Pilager is easier as her secret is easier to pass with weapon buffs and she doesn’t have that kind of resource generation.
C’thun Druid: obviously a bad matchup due to the huge amount of armor and clears with infinite mana, but you have a chance.
Even DK: Not as bad as Pirate Rogue but still a bad matchup. Odd Rogue has more board control early on than Pirate Rogue, so Even DK who was expecting an easy match with Pirate Rogue will be in for a fierce board control fight.
Big Priest: His hope is Neptulon on turn 3, which is rare. If not, he’s probably dead.
In general, the main opponents of the deck are a control deck with a huge amount of health and armor (C’thun Druid, Blood DK, Odd Warrior, Odd Druid).
I prophesy Odd Rogue a Tier 2 or even 1 meta if she can gain popularity.
